Demond Mallet Biography
Demond Mallet is one of the most popular and richest American basketball player who was born on February 22, 1978 in Leesville, Louisiana, United States. Then, in December of 2011, he was transferred to the Belgium club, in the 2011-12 season, when the club was rated as one of the top players in the EuroLeague during that time, and to Maccabi Tel Aviv, in Israel and with whom they signed a one-year deal. On April 12, 2012 following not being able to play enough in the rotation at Maccabi Tel Aviv, he returned to Spirou Charleroi, through the closing of the 2011-12 season. In the next season, Mallet was signed to a 2-year agreement for the Artland Dragons, which was thought to be the largest contract ever offered to an offensive guard within the German Basketball League. Mallet returned to Spirou for another time following that season, before becoming an athlete for FIATC Joventut, where he was a coach for the team. Mallet was recognized by Joventut at the arena of the club, on the 22nd of May 2016 with a banner and the retirement of his jersey in recognition of the many achievements he has made in the club.
Mallet was the winner of the German League championship, and Mallet won the German League championship, and also the German Cup title. Mallet also was the winner of his first ULEB Cup championship (which is now referred to as the EuroCup) and took home the famous Spanish King’s Cup title, together with Team Joventut Badalona. Joventut then paid tribute to Mallet during his final game as a player. Mallet also took home his first Belgian League MVP in 2011 as well as also the Belgium League championship that same year.
After graduating from high secondary school Mallet began his studies at McNeese State University and was a basketball player for the McNeese State Cowboys. He was a NCAA Division I All-American Honorable Mention in 2001. Mallet received the accolade of Southland Conference’s player of the Year during in the season 2000-01. Mallet was inducted into the McNeese State University Hall of Fame in 2012.
On January 10, 2017, Mallet signed with the French club SLUC Nancy, for the rest of the 2016–17 Pro A season. After last playing in 2017, he officially announced his retirement from playing professional basketball, in February 2018, and on February 23, 2018, Mallet was honored in ceremony by Brose Bamberg, the club he helped win their first championship to enter the Euroleague.
