John Barlow Jarvis is one of the most popular and richest American songwriter who was born on January 2, 1954 in Pasadena, California, United States. As he continued his career as a pianist for recording Jarvis also wrote numerous songs that resulted in country hit songs that were recorded by Conway Twitty, Waylon Jennings, Steve Wariner and Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, culminating in receiving two Grammy’s as Songs of the Year (1991-1992) for his co-writing of Vince Gill’s most famous hit song “I Still Believe In You” and The Judds”#1 song “Love Can Build A Bridge”. His songwriting successes have continued beyond country music, with songs performed with Stevie Nicks, [[Taj Mahal (musician)|Taj Mahal(musician)], Bad Company, Cher, Westlife and many more. In 1996, his track “The Flame” was the final song for the Atlanta Olympics. Jarvis got nominated as a nominee for the Emmy for his music score on the show on TV called “Expedition Earth”. In 2015, Jarvis composed the music for the top-selling games on video “Fallout 4”. He provided 26 tracks for Band-in-a-Box the automated accompaniment software.
In the year 1984 Jarvis made four recordings for MCA Records. The year 1993 was the time he made the fifth studio album (“Balancing Act”) for Liberty Records, and, in 2003, he recorded the sixth studio album (“View From A southern porch”) to Barlotone Productions. Time Magazine named “Whatever Works” as one of the top ten pop albums from 1988. And the songs taken from “So Fa So Good” was chosen as the theme song during The 1988 Winter Olympics at Calgary.
Jarvis moved his home from Los Angeles to Nashville in 1982. He continued to pursue his studio career that culminated with nominations for CMA and ACM artist of the year. Some of the musicians Jarvis collaborated with include Garth Brooks, Tammy Wynette, Shania Twain, Dusty Springfield, Bob Seger, Hank Williams Jr, George Strait, Reba McEntire, Jimmy Buffett, Lionel Richie, Steve Earle, and many more. Jarvis also played the his piano for Elvis Presley’s Elvis Presley Christmas Duets Album and performed alongside James Taylor for his Small World Tour. In 2011, Jarvis was on stage in The White House with James Taylor in his PBS Special “In Performance at the White House”. Jarvis has also appeared on television with Ray Charles and Sting.
As of 2016, Jarvis continues to tour with the Vince Gill band, which also features Willie Weeks, Paul Franklin and Tom Bukovac. Jarvis continues to record as well, performing on works by Lynda Carter, Chris Botti and others.
