Brown was a regular starter in his junior season of 2014. Brown finished the 2014 season with 70 tackles and 13 tackles for losses. He also had 6.5 sacks. The Associated Press and league coaches selected him as a first-team All Big 12 selection. He was also awarded consensus All-American honors and was named a finalist in the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (given annually to the best college defensive player) and the Outland Trophy. Brown was the Longhorns’ season leader for tackles for loss and forced fumbles.
On June 19, 2015, the New England Patriots signed Brown to a four-year, $7.61 million contract with $6.14 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $3.79 million.
